Calluster is Growing
July 8th, 2009 |Hello fellow simracers. I want to start this message with a big ‘Thank you’ for doing your part of making Calluster to what it is today. We (Luka & Maxx) started this website 15 months ago and struggled pretty hard to start growing. We had all our servers at home and spent every spare hour of free time to bring it to work and to populate the leagues with fair drivers. Our motto was “Fun and fair simracing to no cost whatsoever”. We financed our servers with private money. Partly because of our motto, and partly because we actually enjoyed creating this place. We have a “Big happy family-atmosphere” today. Donations was opened a few months ago and Luka got a few bucks to buy another server which helped us alot. At some stages before that Calluster was near closing down. Today we have passed way over 400 members and we are all to blame for this great creation. The growth is now starting to be uncontrollable for two persons to administrate. We already have some great people helping us with various stuff. Roger aka llumfern - a great guy from Catalonia - is patiently sharing the medals after EVERY race. Chris has set up a raceserver for us to use. Yankee-Kiro has done so too. Frunz & BlackMagic is starting pre race forum threads etc etc. Things that all might look small but all are very valuable for us and sometimes also hard to find time to do. We are extremly thankful for this. As the growthrate now seems to increase rapidly, we will be looking to engage people to help administer this whole ‘cyberground’ of fair and fun simracing. Small things needs to be done by routine. They need not alot of time, but alltogether they are too many for us to handle. This is why we kindly beg for some help from our members so we can continue running this place. We are many people driving on this place. Each one of us could do small things to build a huge place with great functionality.
Currently we are looking to employ/engage a few volunteers for the most simple tasks. Nothing advanced, rocket-science-alike, out of this world or the like. If you think you can contribute, please consider sending us a short e-mail and we’ll crown you a ‘Calluster Moderator’.
Our aim is to divide some administrative parts into small tasks and share them among us all so in the end we form a big happy group of people running this whole ship. Noone should have her/his hands full of work to do. No advanced knowledge will be needed.
Things we need help with are…
Points - administering points after races. Knowledge needed = basic maths
Forum Moderators - censor bad language and word-fights if needed and move topics to other forums when needed. These things almost never happens here, but when they do, someone would need to take control.
TableModerator - Fixing with the few tables we have. Used cars, driven races, etc. Skills needed = Excel, spreadsheetediting
Race-director - Restart disaster-starts
Promotion on other forums - Spread the word of Calluster. Push potential members into our Group. Skills needed = english speaking and maybe more languages, an open and friendly mind. A typical rolemodel within Calluster.
Publishing race-results - skills needed = simple filemanagement and textediting.
Programming & DBA (need more skilled knowledge) - Help develop new functionality with PHP, javascriipt, SQL. Do you know of anyone doing this? Give us a hint and her/his e-mail.
E-mail reminders - Skills needed = english writing
Tester - Before league starts we need to know if a track is error free. Skills needed = driving
and spare time to test tracks and mods.
League-moderator - develop new leagues, rules, race-schedules etc. Skills needed = structured and realistic planning.
More things will come up and we might want to fill those tasks as well. The above listed are the most acute though.
Calluster is growing quickly now and we have kinda huge plans for it. More servers, more mods, more leagues, more website functionality and even more sims to race with. C’mon and join the funride - join The Calluster Group. PM us your interest or suggestion for who could do a task with a good result.

Drink 4 gallons of Lapin Kulta? I invite you all to Stockholm over a weekend, and we steal some Porsches to race around town with. Ha ha ha. Or… we all sit down in a virtual internet-meeting and try to come up with good suggestions about how we will run Calluster next year. Then drink 15 gallons each, AGAIN
